Celina Jaitley was born on June 9, 1981 in Kabul. The half-Indian and half-Afghani Bollywood actress was born to an officer in the Indian Army and an Afghan model and ex-beauty pageant.
Jaitley would later follow in her mother’s footsteps, participating in various local beauty pageants and eventually Miss India. As a child Celina Jaitley originally wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and join the Army, either as a doctor or a pilot.
She has one sibling, a brother, who does serve in the Indian Army. She attended college at Indira Gandhi National Open University and received a degree in Commerce. But eventually she would follow her true calling, which is modeling and acting.
In 2001 Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India. She became an instant celebrity after winning the crown. She garnered a lot of attention from people in Bollwood.
Two years after winning the crown, she made her Bollywood debut in the film ‘Khel.’ The actress has starred in numerous films since her debut, including ‘Silsiilay,’ ‘No Entry,’ ‘Apna Sapna Money Money,’ ‘Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride,’ and ‘Money Hai Toh Honey Hai.’
Celina Jaitley also starred in a music video. She danced to the tunes of ‘Bombay Vikings’ in ‘Zara Nazron Se Kehdo’ musical video.
In 2007 Celina Jaitley flew to New Zealand to film her first International film and discovered that fame does have its downside. While she was there, she was the target of a stalker who followed her all the way from India. Celina has stated that the experience left her traumatized.
During the summer of 2008, US-based R&B singer Sean Kingston remixed his hit song ‘Beautiful Girls’ and created ‘Bollywood Girls.’ In this song, Sean Kingston showed for fondness of Celina Jaitley and other women of Bollywood. celina later responded to sean kingston thanking him for his support and inviting him to Bollywood.
Celina Jaitley is currently working on a film to be released in 2010 titled ‘The 1,001 Quest of Sheherzade.’ There are rumors that the film will also feature Hollywood actors Sean Connery and Orlando Bloom but nothing is set in stone yet
